Good News

We just got the results back from Emma's EEG. Everything was normal and we are thrilled. She is at Gaga and Poppa's house now for the weekend. Richard and I are leaving tomorrow for the beach with the other first year residents. I hope everyone will have a good time!

Afternoon Outside

Here are some pictures of our afternoon outside. We played on our climbing set, played with bubbles, and walked through the house with our new sandbucket on our head.

EEG

We just got home from the sleep lab in the hospital. I couldn't stay with Emma while she had her EEG. I had to stay in another sleep room and watch television while I waited. The nurse said that Emma did great and they have never had a child that small do so well. She just laid on the bed and watched television and talked the to the nurse during the test. We are supposed to call her doctor in 48 hours for the results.

New Picture

Here is the latest picture of me and Emma. Emma is not looking at the camera because she is enthralled with an episode of the Backyardigans.

With all of the sickness, I have not updated this lately, but I finished reading "Sisters" and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I get a little bored with Danielle Steele because all of her books seem exactly the same except for names and places, but this one was different. I really enjoyed the story. Now I am reading "Shopaholic Ties the Knot" by Sophie Kinsella. I'm about halfway done with it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Update

Well, today I got dressed and out of bed because Richard had to go back to work, so I guess I am improving. Yesterday, Emma started telling us that her "ear hurt" again. Richard checked her out and, you guessed it, another ear infection!!! Tomorrow is her EEG, so I will let you know how everything goes.

Update!!

Emma finally made it back to daycare today (and actually stayed there all day). It looks like she is out of the woods, but now I have whatever she had. I am currently running a 103 fever and feel terrible. I laid in bed all day while she was at daycare! She has her EEG on Tuesday, so hopefully we will get more information then.

That Didn't Last Long

Well, I got a call from Emma's daycare at 10:45 saying she was running a fever of 101.7. So, I went to get her. She seemed to be feeling fine. We came home. She wouldn't eat anything for lunch and went down for a nap. When she got up from nap, her fever was 103.8. Pray for no seizures!!!

I just started "Sisters", the new novel by Danielle Steel. It is really good so far. This morning I have breezed through about 80 pages while proctoring an exam and I can't wait to get back and read some more.

Update

Emma is doing much better. Yesterday, she woke up with no fever and seemed to feel fine. Luckily, we have not had anymore seizures. She is back at daycare today. Her EEG is scheduled for next Tuesday, so hopefully we will get some good news then.

Sick!!!

Well, Emma is sick. She started running a fever last night and told me that "ears hurt". We left mom and dad's this morning and headed home so Richard could check her out. Richard thought she had a minor ear infection. Her fever would not go down and then she had two febrile seizures. We ended up with a trip to the emergency room and Richard covered in vomit. Luckily, everything is o.k. and Emma seems to be feeling much better. We have to get an EEG on Thursday, so hopefully we will get good news with that!

Emma's cool

Here's Emma playing in her "cool" (as she calls it). She loves running through her new Elmo sprinkler. Lately we've been going to our neighbor Joe's "cool" too!

I gave up on "High Maintenance" and have started reading "Shopaholic and Sister" by Sophie Kinsella. I really liked "Shopaholic and Baby", so I thought I would give this one a try. Richard and I watched "Night at the Museum" last night. It was really cute. We both like Ben Stiller and it was a very clean and family-friendly movie.

The Backyardigans

Tonight after a visit to Wal-mart and a lot of playing outside, we decided to go inside and rest before bathtime. We watched "The Backyardigans" and Emma really enjoyed it. I guess we can add that to the rotation with the Wiggles and the occasional Sesame Street video!

New Table

Emma is very excited about her new table. A friend at work gave it to us and we put it in our living room for Emma. It is the only place she will eat dinner now!!!
Richard and I also had a night out last night. Emma stayed home with Miss Tracey, her daycare teacher. We ate at Kozy's, a local place here in Tuscaloosa. It was a recruitment dinner, so luckily our meal was taken care of. I had Filet Mignon and Lobster Cakes! What a treat!

Great Weekend!

We had a great weekend with GaGa and Poppa. Emma loves staying with them. We played outside, did some shopping, and played in our baby pool when we got back home. I think we will all sleep good tonight!

I finished "Shopaholic and Baby" and really enjoyed it. It was a quick read and very funny. I enjoyed it so much that I got the rest of the books in the series from the library to read through. Last night, I started reading "Murder 101" by Maggie Barbieri. It is a murder mystery set on a college campus. I got to read a lot last night due to Emma waking up off and on after 2 am. We love it when she cuts teeth!!!

Sandbox

I broke down and bought Emma a sandbox today. I know they are disgusting, but she loves to play outside and we are always looking for new things to do outdoors. Here are some cute pictures I caught of her.

Adventures in Potty Training

Here is a picture of Emma, taken last week at my parent's house. She is sitting on her potty with her new big girl panties on her head. This will be one to pull out to embarrass her later!

Class Picture

This is Emma's class picture with all of her daycare friends. She loves to look at this picture. She names all of her friends and both of her teachers. The little girl in the front center is the biter and hair puller of the group. Emma loves to tell everyone that "Coco" bit her arm and pulled her hair.

22 Months Old!!!

Emma is 22 months old today. She is growing up so fast. She has given up her beloved "Na Na's" (pacifers) and is starting to experiment with using the potty. She has started wearing big girl panties in the evening and keeping them dry for 30 minutes. She will also "pee-pee" on the potty sometimes too! She will go around the house singing "pee-pee, potty" and dancing to celebrate. A little chocolate as a bribe never hurts either. She has started singing the A,B,C song. She sings A,B,C,P,S,T,Y,Z, and me. We still have a little bit of work to do, but we are very proud. She will also do all of the movements to "If you're happy and you know it". GaGa and Poppa loved hearing her shouting "hooray" last night on the phone. She knows all of her colors and all of her animals and animal sounds. She is constantly amazing us with what she can do. In case you can't tell by this post, we are very proud!

I love to read and I spend as much time as possible doing so. Unfortunately, with a toddler around the house, we spend a lot of time reading about Sesame Street and the Wiggles! However, from the minute I get Emma to sleep, I snuggle down with a good book. I just finished a really good one last night. It was Falling by Christopher Pike. I used to read all of his young adult novels in high school and was excited to find a new adult novel by the author at the library. It was a really good suspense novel. It starts out with two very different plot lines and you really have no idea how they are going to be related. When the stories come together it makes for a great read. I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it. I started reading Shopaholic and Baby by Sophie Kinsella. It is part of the Shopaholic series, which I have not read before. The novel seems to be very funny and a very fast read so far. I look forward to getting further into it.
