I finished "Body Surfing". The writing style was very choppy and it was hard to read. I struggled through it anyway. Now I am going to start "Life's a Beach" by Claire Cook.

Richard's Award

Richard was told he needed to go to medical school graduation last night. We had no idea why he needed to be there. He called me when he left and told me that he had won an award. He won an award for being the best first year intern!!! He was chosen out of twelve first year interns. His plaque reads "in recognition for exemplifying the qualities and traits of a model family medicine physician". He was the only first year intern to win any award. We are so proud of him!!!

I finished "Blaze" on Monday. I really enjoyed it. It is the story of a not-so-smart convict trying to pull off a big time kidnapping con. Now I am reading "Body Surfing" by Anita Shreve. I've read some of her books before and I've really liked them. I'm about 100 pages into it. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Posing

Our Weekend

Richard was working Thursday and Saturday, so we went to visit Gaga and Poppa. Part of our visit took us to Casey's house to use his pool. Emma had a great time. She kept trying to get Casey to come home with us!

Joe Joe's Cool

Here are some pictures of Emma at our neighbor Joe's pool. Emma calls him Joe Joe and calls a pool a "cool". She loves going swimming and we are so lucky having great neighbors who share their pool with us!

Emma and Baxter

Baxter's only redeeming quality is that he is really good with Emma and that Emma loves him. Without that, he would have been gone a long time ago.

Popsicle

Emma has never really liked popsicles. Whenever we give her one, she gives it back and says "too cold". Today was apparently a different story. She ate a red one and then asked for a "purple popsicle please". I guess dinner is ruined tonight!!!

Baby Ducks

One of Richard's friends from work has baby ducks. Emma is obsessed with ducks so we went to visit them tonight. She loved them.

Suprise Box

We have been working with Emma on potty training. She is doing really well so far. She only has one wet accident every few days. To reward her, I started a surprise box. I bought several items from the dollar stores and from the dollar aisles at Target and Walmart. Whenever Emma goes all day without an accident, she gets to choose an item from the box. She was really excited about this idea and took her time choosing which surprise to pick. I also found a really cute cardboard storage box at the Dollar Tree that looks like a princess castle to hold all of the treasures.

Big Helper

Today, we washed both of the cars before Tuscaloosa is hit with the drought restrictions like Birmingham. Emma loves to wash the cars!

Bubbles

Emma learned to blow bubbles today. She was very excited. We spent about an hour outside and that was all we did!

Potty Training

Today was Emma's second day with no wet panties!!! We are so excited!!! She really seems to be getting the concept. Tomorrow could be terrible, but we are excited about today!!!

Noisy, Noisy

Here is another of our Thrift Store finds. We found a really old Fisher Price musical set with a drum, drumsticks, maracas, a harmonica, a tambourine, and Emma's favorite....cymbals! I might be regretting this purchase!!!

New Puzzle

This is Emma showing off our recent Thrift Store find... a giant Winnie the Pooh puzzle. She has really started enjoying puzzles and we always love going to the Thrift Store.

Updates

We just got home from spending the weekend with Gaga and Poppa. Emma had a great time. We shopped, ate out, and played a lot! Her favorite part of the weekend was spending time with Poppa. The picture is of Emma helping Poppa work on the house. She followed him around all weekend. Don't worry... She had plenty of kisses for Gaga too!
So far, potty training is going surprisingly well. We've averaged about two accidents a day and she is starting to tell me when she needs to go. I'm really proud of her for catching on so quickly in just a week. She loves wearing her big girl panties and she loves to get "cha chas" (M and M's) when she uses the potty.

I finished "The Woods". It was one of the best books I've read lately. Very suspenseful and full of twists. I am now reading "Because She Can" by Bridie Clark. It is about a book publisher who has a very demanding boss and her search for love. It is good so far. Seems a little like "The Devil Wears Prada".
